FLIEGEN (the German verb "to fly") is the first of Catapult Productions' filmmaking efforts specifically for the international children’s film genre. More than ten years of examination of the genre informs the work. The work features original music, dance and two languages. Synopsis: Metaphora is ten years old and going through a growth spurt. Her months of flying dreams come with more frequency now. She craves the sensation of loft, of feeling wind under her arms and in her hair. Marathon sessions on her pogo stick satisfy her for a period until she discovers the closest thing to flying. FLIEGEN offers an explanation for the human desire to fly as it passes through its unconscious manifestation in dreams, then its conscious pursuit through a lifetime. [FLIEGEN] |
